10 years is a long time to stay one step ahead, but since its inception Timedance has restlessly pursued unexplored modes of club music. Batu’s label has maintained at the vanguard of a global scene where techno propulsion and soundsystem pressure collide with rhythmic intrigue and flamboyant sound design. Now, Timedance toasts 10 years with TD10 — a compilation featuring a heavyweight roll-call of non-conformist producers.

When Batu started Timedance in 2015, it was a conduit for a close-knit community of artists responding to the innovations taking place in post-dubstep dance music. Launched in Bristol, the label quickly carved out its own slant guided by Batu’s own artistic trajectory. The label’s signature sharp edges and wild textures became a benchmark in an increasingly global scene.

Fast-forward to 2025, and TD10 is definitely not a nostalgia trip for the past 10 years of Timedance. There are plenty of high-profile artists on board, some of whom have history with the label amongst their own legacies within this still-unnameable corner of club music. There’s even more space carved out for exciting, emergent talent, though. The combination of familiar and fresh names, combined with the forward-facing spirit of the music, feeds into a powerful statement of where things are at and where they’re heading.

In line with Timedance’s multifaceted legacy, there’s variety and versatility within these 23 pieces. They’re bound together by a shared affinity for bassweight presence and vibrant, three-dimensional production. The energy ranges from the fractured, artful deconstruction of Daisy Moon, Marco Shuttle and Verraco to the snarling half-step pressure of re:ni and Lurka and the jagged drum intensity of Lechuga Zafiro, 33EMYBW, Ayesha, and Jabes. There’s space for big room anti-anthems from Pearson Sound, Bambounou and Batu himself, wildcard swerves from Minor Science and Skee Mask and more emotive melodic sensibilities from Polygonia, El irreal Veintiuno and BADSISTA. At every turn the curation toys with the idea of what an all-encompassing sound for the label might be, in the process throwing open the possibilities for what Timedance might come to represent in the future.

Alongside the compilation, Timedance will be toasting its 10-year anniversary with a run of special events led by a collaboration with Draaimolen in the Netherlands. Batu and an extended gathering of Timedance artists will take over the Aura stage for two consecutive days at the festival in September, ahead of a run of further showcases in the UK, EU and US for the remainder of 2025.

Timedance has thrived in an era where technology has eroded the generic formulae of dance music’s past, helping set the pace for innovation and presenting compelling, impactful sounds across the tempo range. TD10 responds to that legacy with its gaze fixed firmly forwards, ushering in the label’s next chapter in proudly unpredictable style.
