Orrin, Lost in Translation
DL/DS, self-released, August 15 2025
Premiere, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube

Brooklyn-based art rapper Orrin first made waves with a TV appearance on Dr. Phil, portraying a futuristic cyborg persona. Leveraging this moment, he expanded his reach with a YouTube interview series featuring guests like Neil deGrasse Tyson and Sophia the Robot, blending hip-hop, science, and social dialogue. His ability to merge music and technology was further highlighted through an AI-song collaboration with Grimes, which caught the attention of Business Insider.

Orrin’s sonic evolution took shape with Age of Tomorrow in 2024, a genre-blurring project that fused house, techno, and hip-hop, pushing the boundaries of underground rap. Building on this, he is now defining his own genre dubbed Hip House—a high-energy fusion of American hip-hop and European dance music. His next project, slated for August, fully embraces this new sound, solidifying his role as a pioneer in the next wave of genre innovation. Beyond music, Orrin engages with Gen Z through NYC street interviews on AI and technology, captivating his 250,000 TikTok followers.

Lost in Translation marks the debut of Orrin’s self-defined genre Hip House—a fusion of his New York hip-hop roots with Europe’s electronic dance pulse. Inspired by ’90s house and Y2K energy à la Sonique and Robin S, the album blends melodic R&B, tropical rhythms, and high-energy beats. Imagine Lil Uzi Vert over Charli XCX’s Brat—that’s the soundscape. Thematically, it explores love, Black identity, and digital disconnection in an era of constant communication but fading connection. The mechanized humanoid cover art reflects this distortion—fragmented, remixed, and never quite whole. Orrin isn’t just building a sound—he’s questioning what it means to be real in a world that keeps glitching.
